Santa Monica Sustainable Garden

An expansive but undeveloped back yard was transformed into four outdoor living spaces including a covered dining room, grass play area, fire pit den, and driveway basketball court.

Our eco-friendly renovation included retaining walls and paths of recycled broken concrete as well as a large subterr-anean water run-off reclamation pit under the grass play area. Such pits are critical for urban spaces because they allow homeowners to keep storm water run-off on the property, recharging the water table, rather than polluting the local bay.

A truly Mediterranean garden blends into the lavender garden walls and Spanish-influenced ocher residence walls.

Sandstone pathways complement the colored concrete used to look like the decomposed granite in the firepit den area behind the garage.
